Patriotic Waffles

I wanted to share the fun breakfast that I had with friends for the 4th of July! It’s one of my favorite special occasion breakfasts, actually.

I had fun making these, cream cheese syrup, and some red, white, and blue smoothies!

What can I say?  I’m just really patriotic! 😉

When making red velvet waffles, I ALWAYS use a cake mix. But I’ve tried different brands and I’m telling you, Duncan Hines is the best to use for this recipe! I’m not sure why…it just tastes the best and has the best texture.

Bad news? I couldn’t find my tried and true recipe! It’s been awhile since I made it, and I just couldn’t seem to find it anywhere! So I looked at a new recipe that seemed similar to mine and decided to give it a shot! After all, what’s the worse that could happen? I find a new recipe I like?

This one was from Recipes for Our Daily Bread. It turned out pretty good. I like my waffles a little more thick and hearty, but the lightness of these went well with the toppings! I also like my waffles soft, not too crispy. So if you like them crispy you’ll have to cook them a little extra!

Once the waffles are done, you put whipped cream, cream cheese syrup, and berries (strawberries taste AMAZING with these waffles…). Voila! Seriously, one of the most delicious things ever.

My recipe for Cream Cheese Syrup is similar to the one of the other site, but I use more milk! I don’t like icing or frosting on my waffles. I like my cream cheese syrup to be more liquidy like a real syrup. So add as much milk as you like, depending on the thickness you prefer!

4 oz. Cream Cheese (Softened)

1/2 cup Powdered sugar

1/2 tsp Vanillla

1/2 cup Milk (Or More!)

Mix and pour the deliciousness ALL over the waffle. And anything else you have. It’s that good!

To drink, we have water, milk, and some patriotic smoothies. The recipes weren’t anything special, but I am working on a smoothie recipe post soon! These were Strawberry Banana, Almond Coconut, and Blueberry Cream. The bottles and straw were as big of a hit as the smoothies, too!

Now, what did you have for breakfast for the 4th of July? I hope you’ll try this AWESOME breakfast out, soon as well. I haven’t met a person who didn’t love it!
